Empanadas Lab in North Wales Unexpectedly Closes, New Business to Take Over Location in July

Empanadas Lab in North Wales Borough unexpectedly announced their permanent closure on Friday morning.

The business was founded in the borough in 2019 and has been a staple along the 100 block of North Main Street over the past few years. Most recently, they participated in the borough’s Summer Kick-Off event at Weingarten Park on June 3, and they announced last week that they would be temporarily closed from June 18 through June 30 for minor renovations.

The announcement came by way of the Empanadas Lab Facebook page, where owners Marvin and Hilda provided the following statement:

“Unfortunately, we have decided to close Empanadas Lab effective today. It has been a pleasure for us to serve you!”

While the closure is abrupt, fans of empanadas can find solace in a new business taking over the location relatively soon. Marvin and Hilda said Empanada Noshery would be opening at the same location sometime in July.

In response to questions from North Penn Now, the Empanadas Lab owners said they were closing for personal reasons and are not affiliated with Empanda Noshery. They described the incoming owners as a young local couple whom they've known for a long time, adding they've shared their recipes with them.

A search of the Pennsylvania business directory did not show any listing information for Empanadas Noshery, however the database shows only businesses registered prior to May 14 at the time of publication.
