State Rep. Steve Malagari recently shared his appreciation for the visit of Consul General Euy Whan Kim in a celebration of friendship between America and Korea.
"We express our sincere gratitude to the consul general of the Republic of Korea in New York for his visit to the House chamber and for delivering an inspiring speech on the combined strength of our two nations,” Malagari said. “The presence of the consul general signifies the deep-rooted bond between our nation and Korea, particularly the vibrant Korean communities in the northeastern United States. Throughout history, these communities have played remarkable roles in Korean immigration, shaping both our nations through their contributions and collaboration.
“The consul general of the Republic of Korea’s dedication in uniting the Korean community, strengthening bilateral relations, and fostering mutual understanding is truly commendable. We appreciate their efforts in emphasizing the importance of collaboration, as we work together to build a better future, both economically and socially. We extend our heartfelt appreciation for their visit and continued support in fostering enduring friendship and partnership between our nations."
During his address to the members in the House chamber, Kim emphasized his commitment to strengthening relations between Pennsylvania and Korea.
“For the past seven decades, the alliance has been central to Korea’s diplomacy and economy as well as freedom and prosperity,” Kim said. “The ROK-US alliance is based on the shared value of freedom and democracy that contributes to peace and prosperity of the world. Korea will fulfill its responsibilities and roles as one of the proud allies of the United States. As consul general, I will do my best to further promote economic, cultural, and person-to-person exchanges between Korea and the Keystone State to bring the mutually beneficial and promising partnership to new heights.”
The consul general of the Republic of Korea covers five states in the northeastern United States: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Delaware.
