Vehicle Catches Fire at Chik-fil-A Drive Through at Montgomery Mall

A vehicle was destroyed Saturday night after it caught fire in the drive-through of Chik-fil-A at the Montgomery Mall.

Units from the Fire Department of Montgomery Township (FDMT) were dispatched to the 700 block of Bethlehem Pike at 9 p.m. on June 10 for a report of a vehicle fire. Arriving fire crews encountered a fully involved vehicle fire in the drive-through lane outside of the restaurant, according to FDMT Director of Fire Services Bill Wiegman.

Firefighters were able to place the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes, and Wiegman said there was no fire extension to the building. PECO was called to the scene as a precaution, however, due to the proximity of a gas meter on the exterior of the building to the location of the fire.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Following the fire, crews from FDMT were dispatched to the intersection of Horsham Road and the Route 202 bypass for a multi-vehicle crash with rescue and injuries. We will have more information on that incident once we hear back from Montgomery Township Police later this morning.
