North Wales Police Partner with Little’s Ice Cream to ‘Ticket’ Kids Who Ride Safely

Beginning next week, North Wales Police will be “ticketing” kids in the borough who exhibit safety while riding their bikes, skateboards, and scooters, by rewarding them with free ice cream at Little’s Ice Cream and Water Ice.

On Tuesday, June 13, Mayor Neil McDevitt will be meeting with Star Little, owner of Little’s Ice Cream, to purchase bulk discounted tickets that will be distributed by police to kids who are wearing helmets while riding their various devices. Each ticket will entitle a child to one free ice cream, according to McDevitt.

The program was initially launched last year and returned this year due to its prior success.

“It was a hugely successful program, and we even had adults and council members asking if the program could be expanded for them,” said McDevitt.

More than 200 area kids received tickets last year, McDevitt said. This year’s program will continue until the tickets are fully distributed.
