Montgomery County Parks, Trails, and Historic Sites invites the public to attend upcoming events. These events are family friendly and are low or no cost to attend, reservations are recommended.
Pennypacker Mills - Vintage Baseball
Saturday, June 24, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. – FREE - 5 Haldeman Road, Schwenksville
Widely known as "America's pastime," baseball has been a part of American history since the early 1800s. Early versions of baseball were a mash-up of different stick and ball games that have been around for centuries. The first official game of baseball took place in 1846 and the sport has continued to grow in popularity and national significance. For the majority of the 1800s, baseball was an amateur game played slightly differently than how it is played today. The old rules and traditions of early baseball are kept alive by the Athletic Base Ball Club of Philadelphia.
On June 24, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Pennypacker Mills will host a vintage style game between the Athletic Base Ball Club of Philadelphia and Brandywine Base Ball Club of West Chester. The players will wear authentic style team uniforms, abide by 1860's rules and field layout, and use handmade balls and bats. Bring a blanket or chair to sit on. The Pennypacker Mills mansion will be open for tours during this event.
Green Lane Park - Camp Salamander
Monday, June 26 through Friday, June 30, 2023, from 9 a.m. to noon daily - $50/child - 2144 Snyder Road, Green Lane
Green Lane Park will host "Camp Salamander" from Monday, June 26, to Friday, June 30, from 9 a.m. to noon daily. This half-day camp is designed for students who have completed grades three through five. Campers will learn about trees, insects, birds, mammals, and freshwater animals. In addition to a lesson on the daily topic, campers will be making a nature-themed craft. Healthy snacks will be provided. Each student will receive a "Camp Salamander" logo t-shirt and a white cotton t-shirt to decorate with a nature theme. For more information and to register click here.

The historic sites preserve such things as the collection of a Pennsylvania governor, a Pennsylvania German farmstead, a colonial ironmaster’s home and the first American home of John James Audubon, a National Landmark.
