General Nash Elementary to Hold ‘Be True Day’ in Honor of Teacher Who Died in February

General Nash Elementary School will be holding a “Be True Day” on Wednesday, June 7, in honor of longtime teacher, Cathy Truesdell, who had taught at General Nash since 1997 and passed away in February after a brief illness.

Students will honor Truesdell with a walk through the neighborhood surrounding General Nash Elementary beginning at 9:30 a.m. The walk will conclude at Firehouse Park, located at 1601 Bustard Road, where students will sign a banner to always “Be True” and remember the lessons taught by Truesdell. Upon returning to school, each class will participate in activities honoring Truesdell, and at lunchtime, Alex’s Lemonade Stand will be set up in the cafeteria.

All proceeds will be donated in the name of Mrs. Truesdell. Students and staff are also encouraged to wear purple, Mrs. Truesdell’s favorite color.

On June 7, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., the General Nash Home and School Association is hosting a memorial event to remember Truesdell and dedicate a new bench and free library outside of the school. The bench and library structure were purchased with generous donations from the community and donations from the current sixth grade class of General Nash. There will be speakers to share the impact of Mrs. Truesdell, painting of kindness rocks, and light refreshments served.

General Nash Elementary is located at 1560 Liberty Bell Drive, Harleysville, PA.
