Police Charge Woman With Criminal Mischief Following Incident at Lansdale Hospital

A Bucks County woman has been charged with criminal mischief after an incident at Jefferson Lansdale Hospital earlier this month.

Hatfield Township Police were called to the hospital at 12:35 p.m. July 4 after a report of a patient who was being violent towards the staff, and who had thrown monitoring equipment into an exam room window.

There they found a patient identified as Molly Beth Broyles, 42, of Southampton, who staff had been attempting to restrain, according to charging documents. In the room, police said they observed a monitoring device labeled "AvaSure Telesitter” lying on the floor, missing a wheel, among shards of glass from the shattered inside layer of a window. The hospital valued the Telesitter at $12,768.

According to police, hospital employees told them that Broyles felt a doctor had been rude to her and demanded to talk to another doctor. When the other doctor told her that she would have to deal with the first doctor and left the room, Broyles became upset, grabbed the equipment and threw it toward the window, according to the documents.

Broyles, charged with felony criminal mischief with the intent to damage property, as well as disorderly conduct, was arraigned last week and released on $2,500 unsecured bail. Her next court date will be Aug. 29 before Magisterial District Judge Andrea Hudak Duffy.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using police reports, court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
