Lansdale Borough welcomed its newest police officer Wednesday at borough council’s July business meeting.
Mayor Garry Herbert officiated at the swearing-in ceremony as Lansdale Police Chief Michael Trail introduced Karly Harney as the latest addition to the department.
Officer Harney, a Bucks County native and graduate of Archbishop Wood High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Temple University. A former congressional aide to Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, Harney graduated the Montgomery County Community College’s Police Academy in June.
She represents one of three new police department positions
opened up in the borough’s 2023 budget.
"I want to thank council and the community. … It’s so great and refreshing to be in a community where we enjoy such great support,” said Chief Trail. Motioning to the assembled police department members in council chambers, he added, "I know that’s the result of the hard work of all these men and women every single day, but it’s your support that allows us to go out and serve this community in exemplary fashion."
