One Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash on Welsh Road Wednesday Night

A Philadelphia man was hospitalized Wednesday night following a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Welsh Road and Keystone Drive in Lower Gwynedd Township.

First responders were dispatched to the 1300 block of Welsh Road at 11:21 p.m. for a report of a single-vehicle crash with injuries. Arriving personnel located a Kia SUV that had veered off the road to the right and struck a pole, according to sources at the scene.

Lower Gwynedd Police Chief Paul Kenny said the driver, identified as a 21-year-old male, was transported from the scene via ambulance for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The road appears to have been closed for a period due to the crash, with the scene being cleared by 12:12 a.m. Thursday morning, according to police. Police and fire units from Montgomery Township assisted at the scene, along with units from VMSC Emergency Medical Services.

Kenny said it’s unclear if any charges will be filed as investigators are still working on the report. No further information was available.
