Discover Lansdale is bringing back two fan-favorite events from last year’s 150th Birthday celebration as one big bash this weekend — with a twist.
A Vintage Baseball Doubleheader teams up with the community-wide Picnic in the Park this Saturday, July 22, at Memorial Park and Weaver Field. And this year, for the first time, you get to cheer for the borough’s own just-assembled team,
the Lansdale Foxes, starting at noon!
It’s the first of two games played under rules more than a century old — no gloves allowed! — in the day-long, free admission event. The second game pits the
vintage Brandywine Base Ball Club against the
Philadelphia Athletics at 3 p.m.
Festivities begin at 11. Fans are invited to pack a picnic (or pick up food and refreshments from great local vendors Well Crafted Beer, Cannoneers, and Lions Club), bring a blanket and join the town for a day that also includes lawn games and music,
with ‘60s band Elastic Karma performing in the new Michael DiNunzio Gazebo at 1:30 p.m.
When the Lansdale Foxes — featuring neighbors, friends and other familiar folks displaying talents you (and they) never knew they possessed — face Brandywine at noon, they’ll all be playing under 19th-century rules. (We should have first-aid kits on hand just in case.)
You can learn all about the borough's fearsome lineup — from their favorite teams and players to their walk-up music — by checking out their Baseball Cards at
