Little’s Ice Cream Officially Opens Snack Stands at Lansdale Borough Pools Monday Morning

The wait is over – Little’s Ice Cream in North Wales opens at the White’s Road and Fourth Street Pools on Monday at 11 a.m.

“We had our final inspection with the health department this past Wednesday. For the last couple of days, we have been working to stock up inventory, organization, and some training and scheduling with our staff and we have been open sporadically as we worked on these items,” said Little’s Ice Cream and Water Ice owners Star and Michael Little, and manager Aleth Bocasan in a statement to North Penn Now.

Little’s Cafe at Whites Road Pool and at Fourth Street Pool will be open regular hours, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The snack stands will follow the pools’ schedules when it comes to closures due to inclement weather. Little’s is also operating the snack stand at Nor-Gwyn Pool at Parkside Place in Upper Gwynedd.

The menu will be “basic,” according to the Littles and Bocasan.

Hungry customers have the choice of highly sought after menu items offered at their main store in North Wales Borough: scooped ice cream, ice cream novelties, milkshakes, acai bowls, Backyard Beans drinks, hot dogs, candy, sodas, and snacks. Down the line, Little’s Cafe will also offer grilled paninis, like their three-cheese grilled cheese, chicken melt, Caprese, ham and cheese, and Nutella and banana.

“During the off-season, we will do additional improvements to the space to add more kitchen equipment, such as commercial fryers so that we can add more menu items, like what we offer at our Parkside Place location,” said management.

The Littles admitted it was a bit of a process to get things moving at the Lansdale snack stands.

“First, there was the process of finalizing the contract with Lansdale Borough, which was not extremely long, but was late in the season,” they said. “Then, we had to address some of the issues with the snack stand facilities. They had not been inspected by the health department since 2019.”

Little’s management said the previous operator was grandfathered into some old health codes.

“So, we had to do some renovations to the space, some of it with the help of Lansdale Parks and Recreation, and a lot of it as our own investment into the space,” the Littles said.

The Littles and Bocasan said they are excited about the new opportunity and continue to gather feedback and make adjustments as they go through the process.

“We appreciate the total community’s support as we grow this part of our business,” they said. “We look forward to being a summer staple for Lansdale and North Wales, and our surrounding neighbors.”

The Littles lauded the great local parks and recreation departments at both boroughs, along Upper Gwynedd, for not only having great facilities and offerings, but also great teams of people that care so much about providing a great experience for the community.

Lansdale Borough announced in June Little’s Ice Cream as the new vendor at both snack stands after two years of vacancy.

Formerly known as Wunderlick’s and Wish’s, the neighborhood ice cream shop was voted Best of Montco in 2022 and 2023 by readers of Montco Happening. Little, a North Penn grad and brother of musician and singer Sharon June Little, also runs indoor golf studio Clubhouse 54 and founded Makefield Putters.

For 15 years, both snack stands were run by Cool Eats owners Skip and Sheila McCoy — that is until July 12, 2021, when the McCoys, who also run A+ Jump Party Rentals, announced via Facebook that both locations closed permanently “due to disagreements with the Lansdale Parks and Rec department” and former director Karl Lukens.

Cool Eats continues to operate locations at Towamencin Pool, Harleysville Pool, Souderton Pool, and Mary Barness Swim Club in Warrington, according to its website.
