Four Women 'Diving into Charity’ in Attempt to Break State Skydiving Record Tuesday at Pennridge Airport

As part of their “Diving into Charity” event happening on July 18, Skydive Philadelphia is partnering with REST Connection to simultaneously set the Pennsylvania record for most skydive jumps in a day as well as raise money for women in times of need.

Four women — Kelly Teel, Risa Alfieri, Sheryl Benner, and Jordan Lynch — are participating in the event by each making 25 consecutive jumps from 3500 ft over the course of the day to a collective total of 100 jumps.

REST Connection is a charity organization that aims to aid women going through dire situations to achieve social and financial independence by providing them the services, support, and connections they need.

“I think it’s very important to bring awareness to the fact that women have daily struggles in our area and there is a place that is close by in the Upper Bucks County area that can help,” said Benner.

“Since we’re doing the most jumps in a day attempted by women, we thought the charity we chose should have a connection to that,” Lynch added. “We all loved that the charity donates to at-risk women and allows people to have access to more affordable housing and gives people tools to build a better career path. I work in healthcare, so I see a lot of people that would benefit from a program like REST connection, so I’m happy that I can help contribute,”

While there isn’t an official record in Pennsylvania for most jumps by a woman in a single day, Aaron Teel, the Drop Zone Manager for Skydive Philadelphia and Teel’s husband, cites 16 as the prior record based on a casual conversation with the United States Parachute Association (USPA).

“While technically we could set it to any number above 16, we wanted to set it to 25 so that anyone who wanted to try and break the record would be going through a fairly large endeavor to do so.” said Aaron Teel.

On top of the scheduled 25 jumps for each of the women, a special American Flag jump — which will feature the four women jumping with a 200 square foot American flag banner — is also set to take place at noon.

“I’ve been looking forward to this event all summer! I have a lot less experience than the other women attempting the record with me. I was very excited when Chris asked if I wanted to be involved, the most jumps I’ve done in a day is 7,” said Lynch.

The women will be jumping with banners advertising some of the larger sponsors that donated to their event as well, such as B.A. Woodcraft Inc., FRESH PAINT, Prime Rigging, Warren Weiss Insurance and Risk Management, and Ally Phycological Services LLC.

Anyone who wishes to donate to the event can do so here.
