(The following is the obituary for Amie Nicole Harwick, courtesy of Huff and Lakjer Funeral Home.)

Amie Nicole Harwick, 38, of Los Angeles, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020.

Born May 20, 1981 in Sellersville, PA, she was the beloved daughter of Tom and Penny (Kaufman) Harwick.

Amie was raised in Lansdale, PA and graduated with North Penn High School’s Class of 1999. She moved to the Los Angeles area in 2001 and completed her undergraduate studies at California Polytechnic State University. She received her Master of Arts in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University and her Doctorate of Human Sexuality from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality.

Enough about credentials. Amie loved music, especially heavy metal, Tori Amos, Depeche Mode, and Christina Perri. She was as comfortable in a mosh pit as she was dancing with her mom, on stage, with the Beach Boys.

Amie was a model for Stop Staring Clothing and Coffin Case. She authored a book, created podcasts, and wrote magazine articles. She was also a personal trainer and released an exercise video. She loved horror movies, collecting taxidermy, and many objects in formaldehyde jars. Amie was quirky and fun. The camera loved her, and she was becoming a photographer herself.

Amie loved her family. Her favorite visit every year was the annual “CBD” (cookie baking day) when she could see all of her cousins, aunt, parents, brother, nieces, and nephews. Of course, the visit always included cheesesteaks, pork roll, and Lebanon bologna!

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Chris Harwick and his wife, Carrie, and children Madison and Adian; aunt, Kathleen McQuaid and her husband, Jeffrey Burnham; her extended family of cousins; fabulous friends; and her beloved furry companion, Marquis de Chat.

Relatives and friends may call between 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2020, at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m.  Burial will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Amie’s memory to Rock to Recovery, an organization that brings the healing power of music to people in treatment for addiction, trauma, and mental health concerns, at https://rocktorecovery.org/donate/.
