Hugh Cullen, Former Lansdale Mayor, Dies at 79

Memorial services have been scheduled for former Lansdale Borough Mayor Hugh J. Cullen, who passed away on Dec. 29 at Saint Luke’s Hospital

According to Cullen’s obituary, services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. in the Lions Gate Community Clubhouse on Gateway Drive in Souderton. A private burial will be held at a later date.

“My deep and sincere condolences to the family of former Mayor Hugh Cullen, who lead our great community from 1969 to 1973,” said Lansdale Borough Mayor Garry Herbert.

Cullen’s passing comes roughly six months after the death of his successor, former Lansdale Borough Mayor Dick Bitner. Cullen is survived by his wife of 47 years, Faith E. Cullen, his daughter, Colleen Krieble (Steve), his two sons, Kevin (Sharon) and Hugh James Cullen Jr, as well as brothers, sisters and grandchildren.
