North Penn School District Appoints New Hatfield Elementary School Principal

North Penn School District (NPSD) Board of School Directors appointed Rita Whalen as the new Principal of Hatfield Elementary School at the action meeting, held Jan. 19. Whalen has been the Assistant Principal of Pennbrook Middle School since 2021.

Whalen joins Hatfield Elementary after seven years in North Penn School District and over 21 years working in education. She joined NPSD in 2016 as an Emotional Support Case Manager with Pennbrook Middle School, developing an Emotional Support Program for the school. Whalen then became a Special Education Case Manager for Northbridge School, working with students, staff, and families to develop individualized educational plans (IEPs) to define student learning objectives and strategies. In 2021, Whalen joined Pennbrook Middle School as the Assistant Principal.

Whalen earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and her Master of Science in Special Education from Holy Family University in Philadelphia. She also holds a Principal K-12 Certification from Delaware Valley University in Doylestown.

North Penn School District would like to offer Rita Whalen congratulations on her appointment as Principal of Hatfield Elementary, and good luck as she continues to bring her leadership to North Penn schools.
