Living Branches is excited to be offering in-person classes and field trips again this spring for Living U students.
Recognizing the many benefits of lifelong learning, Living Branches established Living U in 2017 to provide older adults with opportunities to broaden their knowledge and learn new things. Just like a regular university, there is a fall semester and a spring semester offered each year. But unlike a regular university, there are no grades. Living U is for students’ pure learning enjoyment.
All seniors ages 62 years of age and older in the community are invited to enroll in the program, whether they are residents of a Living Branches community or not. Students have the choice of spending $25 for one to five classes, $45 for six to 10 classes, or $65 for 11 or more classes. Certain classes and field trips require an extra fee.
This semester, there are 19 different courses and trips to choose from including topics on history, art, music, science, public policy, faith, and service.
“I hope that many seniors in our local area can enjoy the benefits of Living U. We seek to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere for learning about a wide variety of topics. It’s good to expand our awareness and knowledge in history and science, to appreciate the beauty of art and music, and to meet other students and instructors through the classes and trips,” said Maribeth Benner, Living U coordinator.
Registration is available online at LivingBranches.org/LivingU from Tuesday, Jan. 17 to Wednesday, Feb. 1. Those who wish to sign up who don’t have access to a computer may attend any of the registration events below. During these events, Living Branches team members will be onsite ready to register students for the courses they wish to attend.
