Nick Foles may be gone from the Eagles, but the Philly Special is making a comeback in time for the playoffs — for dessert.
Owowcow Creamery, the handcrafted, locally-sourced organic ice cream retailer located near the Chalfont Septa station at 101 N. Main St. in Chalfont Borough, has launched its “NEW Philly Special” handheld Eagles ice cream footballs.
Each $8 football is stuffed with sweet honey cream ice cream, Dock Street Brewery porter fudge, and soft pretzel cookie dough and dark chocolate layers.
The delicacy is meant to honor the NFC’s No. 1 seed in the postseason, per a press release.
The new ice cream is available at the Chalfont location and its four other shops in Ottsville, Wrightstown, and Easton, PA, and Lambertville, NJ.
“This is a flash sale - something we're producing to celebrate the Eagles amazing run to the NFL playoffs this season. Only a limited amount will be available in all stores,” said Shira Tizer Wade, Owowcow’s managing director, in a press release. “We’ll produce another batch every time the Eagles win a game during the playoffs. If we win the Super Bowl, we will make limited edition gold footballs and donate the proceeds to the Eagles Charitable Foundation, which provides comprehensive eye care, vision screenings and prescription glasses to underserved children in our area.”
Owowcow, one of a few companies licensed by the Department of Agriculture to make ice cream base from scratch, was founded in 2009 and touts handcrafted ice cream made daily with organic and locally-sourced ingredients.
