VMSC Emergency Medical Services Awarded Military Contract

(The following information was provided by the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale.)

VMSC Emergency Medical Services (VMSC) has been awarded the government contract for EMS contract for the United States Army Tobyhanna Army Depot (TYAD). The TYAD is home to the Army Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for C4ISR, Electronics, Avionics, Missile Guidance, and Control and the U.S. Air Force Technology Repair Center for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence and Tactical Missiles.

VMSC has been awarded a base plus four-year contract to provide EMS for the installation beginning March 9.

“We are excited about this new venture and the opportunity to serve our military,” said Shane Wheeler, VMSC Chief Executive Officer. “Captain Frank E. Boston, M.D., a World War 1 Army Medical Corps Surgeon, founded VMSC in 1933; our connection to our nation's military is one of the unique features of our service.”

Wheeler believes this is a huge step forward for the organization as a premier EMS system. The new addition in service will have no impact on the current VMSC service area 911 or Interfacility Transfer operations.

VMSC is a regional EMS provider based in Southeastern Pennsylvania. VMSC currently provides EMS to ten North Penn and Indian Valley municipalities and operates an Interfacility Medical Transport service for area hospitals, K9 Search and Rescue, Drone, and Tactical Medic Teams.
