Funeral Services Scheduled, Fundraiser Launched for Fallen North Penn Firefighter

Jason “Jcon” Connelly, 42, of North Wales, died on Friday following a three-year battle with cancer.

A beloved local firefighter, EMT, police dispatcher, friend, and father of three passed away Friday after a three-year battle with cancer, which caused him to spend the last two months of his life in the hospital.

Jason J. Connelly, 42, of North Wales, or “Jcon” to his friends, was a police dispatcher with Lower Providence Township Police Department for many years and also served as a firefighter and EMT with North Penn Volunteer Fire Co. in North Wales since 1999.

Connelly had also held the roles of assistant engineer and assistant safety officer at the fire company, according to his obituary. He recently earned his life membership at the fire company.

A GoFundMe so far as raised $380 toward the $5,000 goal, which will go toward medical and funeral expenses.

“The least I could do for a friend and NPVFC brother. Rest easy buddy,” wrote North Penn Vol. Fire Co. colleague Kevin Thomas, of North Wales, on the GoFundMe page.

Collegeville Italian Bakery Pizzeria Napoletana in Lower Providence paid its respects to Connelly on its outdoor signage Tuesday.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of Jason’s passing after a brave battle with cancer,” wrote the pizzeria on its Facebook page. “Sending all our love and heartfelt condolences to Jason’s LPPD and North Penn Fire brothers and sisters, his wife Erin, children, entire family, friends and all who knew and loved him. He was a great guy and will be missed by all of us here at the Bakery. May he rest in peace.”

“Jason was a great guy, and I was fortunate enough to have worked with him,” wrote Kristy Morgan Teel under the bakery’s post.

North Penn Volunteer Fire Company wrote on its Facebook that Connelly joined its ranks in 1999 at 19 years old.

“We ask that you keep the entire Connelly family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” said the Facebook post. “Rest easy brother. We got it from here.”

“So sorry for this loss, to his family and the whole community,” wrote Patricia Armstrong under the fire company Facebook post.

“I’m so sorry for your loss. Keeping the Connelly and North Penn families in our thoughts,” commented North Wales Mayor Neil McDevitt.

Connelly is survived by his wife of 16 years, Erin, and his children Hayley Moore, Abigail Connelly, and Dylan Connelly, among other family members.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home in Lansdale, with a service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Sellersville Cemetery.

Family requests that donations be made in Connelly’s memory to North Penn Volunteer Fire Co., 141 S. Main St., North Wales.
