Man Arrested on Assault, Trespassing Charges After Forcing Way into North Wales Library, Police Say

A North Wales man has been arrested after he repeatedly tried to gain access to the North Wales Area Library on consecutive days in January after being told he was no longer allowed on the premises, according to police.

Thomas Fissinger, 33, of the 100 block of South Main Street, has been charged with a felony count of criminal trespassing, along with misdemeanor counts of simple assault and defiant trespassing and summary counts of harassment and disorderly conduct, in connection with a series of incidents in North Wales Borough.

Fissinger is being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 cash bail.

Police said they warned Fissinger on Jan. 23 and Jan. 24 that he was no longer allowed on the premises of the library, located along the 200 block of South Swartley Street, however he returned on Jan. 25 at 11:30 a.m. and refused to leave. Library staff reportedly locked the doors to keep Fissinger out, but when they opened the doors to allow a customer inside, Fissinger allegedly pushed his way into the library, striking the customer in the left shoulder in the process, according to charging documents.

Fissinger then left the library, but returned a short time later, police said. He was then directed to leave again by police.

The criminal complaint does not provide details as to why Fissinger was initially barred from entering the library.

Charges were filed on Jan. 25, and he was remanded to county jail after failing to post bail following his arraignment on Jan. 26. All charges were held against Fissinger during his preliminary hearing on Feb. 8, and he’s currently awaiting a formal arraignment at county court.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
