Intoxicated Man Charged After Entering Random North Wales Home and Passing Out, Police Say

A South Carolina man is facing charges after he allegedly entered a random home in North Wales Borough and proceeded to pass out on the couch.

Frank Lucas, 41, of Blackville, has been charged with one felony count of criminal trespassing, along with a misdemeanor count of trespassing and a summary count of public drunkenness, in connection with the incident. He’s currently free on $2,500 unsecured bail.

Police were dispatched to a home on West Montgomery Avenue on Feb. 3 for a report of an unknown person inside of the residence. Upon arrival, police met with a resident who took them inside of the home and led them to Lucas, who was passed out drunk on a couch in the living room, according to charging documents.

The resident said they were asleep with their wife and two young children when they awoke to find Lucas on the couch, the report states. The resident also said they had never seen or met Lucas before, and he had no permission to be inside of the home, according to the criminal complaint.

Police woke up Lucas and asked him if he knew where he was, to which he allegedly replied “I am home.” Lucas then remained on the couch and made no attempt to leave the home police said.

Lucas was described by police as smelling of alcohol and having bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech, and slow movements. A portable breath test allegedly showed he had a blood-alcohol content of .21% at the time of the incident.

As a result of the incident, Lucas was taken into custody and arraigned by District Judge Scott Palladino. His next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. in front of District Judge Suzan Leonard.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
