Area fire crews responded to a garage fire along the 600 block of Edgewood Avenue in Lansdale Sunday afternoon.

According to Fairmount Fire Company Chief Gavin Butler, crews arrived at the scene just after 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 5 and encountered a fully involved fire in a detached two-car garage approximately 15 feet from the home. Most of the fire was extinguished in under 20 minutes, however the fire was not officially placed under control until 2:15 p.m., Butler said.

The garage and its contents appear to be a total loss. The home itself suffered some heat damage to the exterior side facing the garage, but the fire itself did not extend into the home and the occupants were able to return to their home Sunday evening.

Butler said the cause of the blaze appears to be accidental, and the investigation has been turned over to Lansdale Fire Marshal Rick Lesniak. The scene was cleared just after 5 p.m.

No injuries were reported, and all occupants were able to safely evacuate prior to the arrival of first responders, Butler said.

Fairmount Fire Company was assisted at the scene by units from the Lansdale Borough Police Department, Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale, North Penn Fire Company, Colmar Fire Company, Worcester Fire Company, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, and Upper Gwynedd Fire Department.
