Child Airlifted Sunday Afternoon in Lansdale After Sustaining Injury from Screwdriver

A PennStar medevac helicopter awaits transport of the child at Memorial Park.

A young boy was airlifted on Sunday afternoon after sustaining an injury from what sources say was a screwdriver.

First responders were dispatched to a home in the area of Hancock and Cedar streets in Lansdale Borough at 5:08 p.m. on Feb. 5 for a report of lacerations. Multiple sources told North Penn Now that the incident involved a 1-year-old boy who appeared to have fallen onto a screwdriver.

Due to the severity of the boy’s injuries, a PennStar medevac was requested, which touched down at Memorial Park shortly after 5:30 p.m.

Officials from the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale (VMSC) confirmed the boy’s age to North Penn Now, adding that he was transported via medevac in serious but stable condition. His current condition is unknown.

When asked about the injury sustained, the VMSC official declined further comment citing privacy protections.

Units from the Fairmount Fire Company and Upper Gwynedd Fire Department worked to coordinate the landing zone for the helicopter at Memorial Park. Lansdale Borough Police assisted at the initial scene, according to dispatch records.

North Penn Now has reached out to Lansdale Borough Police Chief Michael Trail for additional details. We will update this article if we receive any new information.
