Two people were injured following a crash on Harleysville Pike in Lower Salford Township Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred at 3:53 p.m. at the intersection with Groffs Mill Road, and involved a black Honda Accord and a gray GMC Terrain. Arriving crews encountered the Honda pressed up against a guardrail and the GMC in the roadway. Both vehicles had suffered significant front-end damage.
Both drivers were transported from the scene via ambulance for treatment of unknown injuries.
Portions of Harleysville Pike were closed for approximately one hour as crews worked to process and clear the scene. Both vehicles had to be towed, and firefighters on scene were observed clearing fluid spills from each vehicle.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Lower Salford Township Police were assisted at the scene by units from the Harleysville Fire Company and Harleysville EMS.
Harleysville Pike reopened to traffic around 5 p.m.
