A local superhero is going on tour and bringing free Covid-19 and flu shots to 12 clinics over the next four weeks.
Skippack Pharmacy owner Dr. Mayank Amin, aka Dr. Mak, wants to make sure no one gets left behind who wants to get vaccinated.
"Through the year, there has been an increase in the number of uninsured individuals in our community, and an increase in the number of those who want the vaccine but are underinsured and would now be charged with the cost of a vaccine that was previously provided by the Federal government,” Amin told North Penn Now.
Amin said the issues prompted him to reach out to the Montgomery County Health Department to see what he could do to help and the Montgomery County Vaccine Tour was created.
Throughout December, Skippack Pharmacy will be running 10 clinics, including two visits in Lansdale.
"Uninsured, underinsured, or insured – with these clinics, it will make no difference,” Amin said. "They will receive a flu and/or Covid-19 vaccine, no cost, no questions.”
All clinics will have child and adult doses of Pfizer, Moderna, and flu vaccines.
Here are the clinic dates and locations:
· Tuesday, Dec. 5 – Montgomery Township Community and Recreation Center, Montgomeryville
· Tuesday, Dec. 12 – Montgomery County OIC, Norristown
· Thursday, Dec. 14 – Lansdale Public Library, Lansdale
· Tuesday, Dec. 19 – North Wales Borough Hall, North Wales
· Wednesday, Dec. 20 – Hatfield Township Administration Building, Hatfield
· Dec. 7, 9, 12, 14, 17 – Bethel Ame, Ardmore
Skippack Pharmacy also has a special homebound vaccine program for those in the county.
Amin encourages patients to wear their favorite superhero shirt and bring a toy or item to donate. Skippack Pharmacy is partnering with local food pantries to collect donations for the community in need.
