Imprint Beer Taps Into Five Heady Years For Anniversary Bash

When Imprint Beer Co. co-founders Ryan Diehl, retiree Richard Sidman, and college proctor and author Justin Hines were fermenting the possibility of opening a brewery five years ago, it was an affordable lease and location, location, location that landed them in an industrial suite on Industry Road off Schwab Road in Hatfield Township.

The trio’s vision after five years has grown into a dream-come-true, four-business evolutionary success. On top of Imprint Beer at 1500 Industry Road Suite O, the trio is:
  • Poised to open a 200-seat rooftop bar restaurant later this year in West Chester called Serum Kitchen + Taphouse;
  • Has started a bourbon distillery called Plasm Bourbon Co;
  • And, in a short few weeks, will partner with a Main Line French cuisine restaurant to provide them with Imprint beer and specialty cocktails.
"Imprint is currently in the midst of a major evolutionary phase, as we expand beyond our Hatfield taproom and brewery,” Diehl says. "Serum Kitchen + Taphouse will seat 200, with an open concept kitchen, rooftop bar, craft beer, hand crafted cocktails, bourbon flights, and wines from around the world.”

Plasm Bourbon Co., he says, "will focus on bourbon and a few other specialty spirits. Plasm Bourbon has two releases set for the opening of Serum. We’ve also developed a coffee liqueur and a few other special surprises.”

What drives Imprint Beer Co.? "Always grinding,” Diehl says. "Plus some good ideas, a few fortunate breaks, a fun but challenging industry, and surrounding ourselves with incredible people.”

To celebrate five successful years, Imprint Beer Co. is partying with an anniversary bash from 6 to 10 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 26, featuring live music from Mostly Harmless, 15 guest taps, special Imprint anniversary beers, and a giveaway of its yearly anniversary pint glass.

"Finally, we are previewing two new projects: Plasm Bourbon Co. is sampling a six-year bourbon, available neat, on the rocks and in cocktails. And we are introducing Mean Mugz coffee liqueur, the evolution of our original hard coffee. We’ll be making Mean Mugz espresso martinis exclusively at the anniversary party. All the cocktails were crafted by our bar staff at Serum Kitchen + Taphouse,” Diehl says.

Diehl attributes their success to the quality of his staff and the consistency of its beers.

Also boosting popularity: The new Gnarcadium, "our free to play retro arcade with billiards, shuffleboard, pop-a-shot, and retro arcade games. That opened in February, and we’ve been very happy with the increase in business,” Diehl says. "The relationships with our customers have both improved significantly in five years.”
