State Rep. Steve Malagari, D-Montgomery, has announced that $45,000 has been awarded to help job seekers in Montgomery County improve their digital-literacy skills so they can be successful in finding, obtaining, and maintaining employment.
"Helping people in underprivileged areas gain basic digital skills is key to them finding good jobs and boosting our state's economy,” Malagari said. "This grant will prepare Pennsylvanians for careers and ensure they can access opportunities in growing industries across the state. It also makes job hunting more simple and less stressful for them.”
The project will expand digital-literacy education to Montgomery County residents in partnership with
Full Circle Computing, which has implemented a similar program successfully in Chester County. Full Circle will provide digital-literacy training for Montgomery County's most affected populations with a focus on those seeking employment in areas of greatest need.
The Department of Labor & Industry’s digital literacy grants program provides funding to organizations in local communities that teach residents how to effectively navigate platforms used in the job search process and the workplace. The instruction includes digital fundamentals, digital citizenship, and understanding digital information, especially in communities with poor access to broadband infrastructure and high-speed internet.
