Willow Street Pictures to Open New Location in Harleysville This Weekend

To kick off the grand opening of its second location in Harleysville, Willow Street Pictures will be hosting an opening gala on Aug. 19 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event is open to the community and will showcase the studio’s portraits that are custom printed and custom framed in house. There will be refreshments, hors d’oeuvres, a tour of the building, and a raffle in which the winner will receive a complimentary studio shoot. Attendees can also meet the founder, Darren Modricker, and the creative team behind Willow Street Pictures, a photography studio and gallery that specializes in pet portraits, family portraits and boudoir

Willow Street Pictures was founded in 2002 by Modricker, a then-New York City-based photographer, who was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis. His daughter was 1-year-old at the time, and he wasn’t sure what the outcome was going to be.

“That made me aware of how important a family portrait could be for my family and my legacy,” said Modricker, who was born in Lancaster and moved to Berks County early in his childhood. After searching for someone who would be able to capture the bond he and his family shared, he decided to create his own studio.

After 11 years in the West Lawn area, Willow Street Pictures will be opening its second location on 474 Main Street in Harleysville. The new location will have galleries, studios, and a custom framing department.

“We've always been looking to grow the brand, and we have clients that travel one to two hours in every direction to come to our studio,” Modricker said. “We have been looking for the right property with the right feel, and when we found that property… [in] Harleysville, it just spoke to me, and the town is a really beautiful town.”
