A Souderton man has been taken into custody after he allegedly committed a pair of burglaries in Sellersville Borough and West Rockhill Township while out on bail on a previous set of burglary charges.
According to the criminal complaint, Perkasie Borough Police were on patrol along the unit block of Noble Street in Sellersville Borough around 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 12 when they located a vehicle parked outside of an abandoned warehouse. Police said they ran the license plate, which showed the vehicle was registered to 43-year-old Maria Keller, of Ambler, who — along with her boyfriend, identified as 43-year-old Jason Post, of Souderton — had an active arrest warrant stemming from an alleged burglary in West Rockhill Township on Aug. 6.
Investigators encountered Keller as she was walking out from the north side of the building, and when asked why she was there, she told police that Post had run off from her at a nearby gas station and she was driving around looking for him, according to charging documents. She was subsequently taken into custody on the West Rockhill arrest warrant.
Post was located inside of the building a short time later wearing working gloves with a tool belt and numerous tools laid on a blanket just inside of the door, police said. The tools included a crowbar, hand lamps, wire cutters, a rotary saw, a rotary brush, and various other items, according to police, who allege Post was actively stripping machines of wires when police encountered him.
He was also taken into custody.
As a result of the Aug. 12 incident, Post has been charged with felony counts of burglary, criminal trespassing, and theft of secondary metal, along with a pair of misdemeanor drug charges. He’s currently being held on 10% of $50,000 cash bail on those charges. Post is also facing more than three dozen charges in connection with the Aug. 6 incident in West Rockhill, and he’s being held on 10% of $350,000 cash bail on those charges.
Court records show Keller is being held on 10% of $200,000 cash bail stemming from the Aug. 6 incident, in which she was charged with misdemeanor counts of theft of secondary metal and receiving stolen property. Keller has not been charged in connection with the Aug. 12 incident in Sellersville.
Post was previously arrested in Telford Borough on Dec. 25, 2022, after a homeowner along the unit block of Hartzell Avenue discovered Post searching through a chest freezer located in their three-season room, according to police. The criminal complaint in that case describes Post as possessing similar tools to the ones he was allegedly found with during his most recent arrest.
Bail in that case was initially set at 10% of $150,000 cash, however court records show it was lowered 10% of $40,000 cash on Jan. 13. Four days later, the court docket shows that Keller posted bail, and Post was subsequently released.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using police reports, court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
