SCORE TriCounty Event Shows How Poker Strategies are a Win for Women in Business

(The following information was provided by Katalinas Communications.)

In its first in-person women’s business conference since the pandemic, SCORE TriCounty is setting the stakes high with a unique daylong women’s business and networking event on May 5.

The event, “Women Playing to Win: Messaging, Mindset, Money,” features keynote speaker Ellen Leikind, the founder and CEO of PokerDivas, a business that teaches women how to win in life and business using poker strategies.

“SCORE is committed to empowering women entrepreneurs by providing expertise, education, and encouragement. This event with messaging, mindset and money strategies is an opportunity to learn, connect and have fun too.,” SCORE member and event organizer Donna Botti said of the educational event. “No poker experience is necessary.”

Teaching the strategies of No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em – and more importantly, how the concepts of the game apply to the business world – is where Leikind comes in.

“The key component is getting into that play-to-win mode and not being shy or embarrassed or afraid to promote your value and get what you’re worth,” Leikind said. “Are you playing to win or are you playing not to lose? Are you thriving or just surviving?”

Some of Leikind’s key takeaways include learning how to negotiate for yourself, understanding the motivation and personality types of those who work for and with you, as well as managing difficult people.

“It’s not about gambling, but rather about building confidence, learning to read people, becoming a better negotiator, and being assertive and bold when it really counts,” Leikind said. “These skills make you successful at poker and business.”

Attendees will receive a copy of Leikind’s book, “Poker Woman: How to Win at Love, Life, and Business using the Principles of Poker.”

The event also features a panel discussion on how the right messaging and mindset will help you achieve business, financial and personal success. Panelists include Botti, of web design and digital marketing company, Delos Inc.; Adrean Turner, a personal, professional and leadership development coach and speaker; and MarySheila McDonald, the Director of The John F. Scarpa Center for Entrepreneurship and Law at Villanova University’s Charles Widger School of Law.

Representatives of SCORE TriCounty will share insight about the no-cost mentoring resources available to entrepreneurs and business owners. Sponsors include Truist Bank, Villanova University School of Law, Customers Bank and Yergey Daylor Attorneys at Law. The event also features plenty of networking opportunities with fellow women business owners and professionals.
