North Montco Education Foundation will host their second-annual car show on Saturday, April 22, on the grounds of North Montco Technical Career Center (NMTCC).
The car show’s proceeds go towards the school’s educational foundation, which started about three years ago. The money from donors and sponsors helps to provide opportunities for students to develop skills related to their career goals. In addition, the foundation supports students by paying for industry-recognized certifications and licenses, purchasing hand tools, personal protective equipment, and software, and helping students participating in SkillsUSA, a national career & technical student organization.
The school plans to have several categories, including Best of Trucks, Best of Street Rods, Best in Muscle Cars, etc. Welding, auto body, and machinist students design and craft the trophies. Car show participants can register on the Foundation’s website for a $20 fee. The event is free to visitors and will include music, raffles, and food trucks.
The car show will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with check-in between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Businesses interested in learning more about sponsoring this event should call 215-368-1177 extension 303.
A rain date has been scheduled for April 23.
We want to engage the community as often as possible to demonstrate the value of career, technical education, and our role in supporting the growth and longevity of Montgomery County students.
NMTCC is a technical career center offering 21 programs of study for students in grades nine through 12 from Methacton, North Penn, Perkiomen Valley, Souderton Area, and Wissahickon School Districts. In addition, while still attending high school, students can enroll in various programs, such as carpentry, machining, culinary arts, diesel technology, and many more. These careers are what we consider to be a high priority and essential job for today’s workforce.
SkillsUSA provides opportunities for North Montco students to meet students with similar career goals at other career centers, develop leadership skills, and show off their newly developed skills at district, state, and national competitions.
North Montco’s relationship with the business community is reciprocal. North Montco trains students with relevant skills and technology to prepare them for jobs in local industries. In turn, we have industry partners who volunteer on occupational committees, as guest speakers, or as judges during competitive events to support our students and school.
