The elimination-style, cat vs. mouse game called “Jackal,” where individuals create teams to try and eliminate targets by shooting them with water pistols or gel spheres, has made its way to Montgomery Township, and police are warning participants to refrain from the “extremely dangerous” game.
As announced on their Facebook page, Montgomery Township Police said they received multiple calls over the last week that resulted in police discovering the game being played by juveniles.
They even discovered water pistols being painted to resemble real weapons, police said.
“While this game intends for participants to have fun, there is a multitude of dangers that can accompany this. Bystanders often do not understand that this game is being played and contact the police, resulting in the following calls for service: armed subjects, reckless drivers, and suspicious persons,” stated the post. “Most recently, officers have seen water pistols painted to resemble a real weapon. This is extremely dangerous, and we strongly urge participants to refrain from this type of action.”
A similar situation arose in and around Hilltown Township last month, where Pennridge seniors were warned of potential dangers and mistaken situations in playing “Jackal.”
