34th Annual International Spring Festival Scheduled for Saturday at North Penn High School

Cultures will come together Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at North Penn High School for the 34th International Spring Festival, presented by the International Festival Foundation.

The mission of the festival, according to its website, is to bring awareness of various cultures in the community through various activities and celebrate enrichment of the community by showcasing art, music, food, and education.

The festival is held every year in April at the high school on Valley Forge Road in Towamencin. In addition to an offering of international foods, the festival features music, children’s activities and a health fair.

The main gym is the site for musical performances and exhibitions from more than 25 countries.

Every year, according to its website, ethnic cuisines from all over the world are available for purchase. This year’s cuisine includes Chong Dumpling House (Chinese), Deshi Village (Bangladeshi), cookies from Donna’s Delicious Delights, Kub Kao (Thai), Las Fridas (Mexican), Mister Softee ice cream, Hungarian pastries by Chef Adam, coffee from Philly Espresso, Roll M Up (wraps and egg rolls), Spatola’s Pizza & Italian Restaurant, Columbian fare from Sweetcorn y Mas, and the Scouts of Troop 51 in Hatfield will sell water and soda. This year’s food committee was overseen by Mohana Padgaonkar, Kiran Padgaonkar, Tom Meyer, Anna LoPiccolo, and Flora Szabo.

Entertainment will occur in the main gym, audion, and main cafeteria at the school. Featured acts include Bulgarian Folk Club Rozhen, the Fitzpatrick School of Irish Dance, a Korean fashion show, Jaisohn Korean Youth Drum Team, Bollywood Dancing Divas, Ting Jiang Chinese performance, and Chinese dance from Philadelphia Prosperity Dance Alliance.

There will be six planetarium shows offered throughout the day as well.
