Montgomery County Department of Public Safety reported the crash occurred at 8:35 p.m. on April 12 near the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Garden Golf Boulevard. WFMZ, quoting emergency dispatchers, said the crash involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck.
The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, the report states.
Though the cause of the crash is currently unknown, multiple witnesses posted to a Facebook group for Montgomery Township residents stating they observed the motorcycle traveling northbound on Bethlehem Pike at a high rate of speed past the quarry near the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Keystone Drive.
“I was sitting at the light where the quarry is [and] he flew between all the stopped cars,” said one witness. “I actually gasped and jumped in my seat [as] it startled me.”
“It scared the crap out of me as he flew through,” said another witness in the same vicinity “I said to myself ‘I hope nothing happens:’ [then] within an instant approaching the next light, it happened.”
As a result of the crash, Bethlehem Pike was closed for several hours. Police were assisted at the scene by units from the Fire Department of Montgomery Township and the North Penn Fire Company.
North Penn Now has reached out to the Montgomery Township Police Department for more information on the crash, as well as the identity of the victim. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
