Vietnam Veterans residing at the Southeastern Veterans Center, Spring City, Pennsylvania, were honored by Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) on March 28 at a ceremony commemorating National Vietnam War Veterans Day. The Towamencin, Mahanatawny, and Valley Forge DAR chapters sponsored the event at the center, marking the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.
Proclamations from President Joseph Biden and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro were read by Towamencin DAR Regent Susanne Johnston. Each veteran received a gift bag containing a Vietnam Veteran lapel pin, a certificate recognizing their valor, service and sacrifice, and a star cut from a tattered American flag made by a fellow veteran to remind them that they are not forgotten.
In 2017, the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act was signed into law designating March 29 to be observed in perpetuity as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
