An Ambler man is facing charges after he allegedly took sexual images of himself at a public park in Lower Gwynedd while other people were present, including a mother and her two young children.
Police were dispatched to the area of Pen Ambler Park at 12:18 p.m. on Sept. 7 for a report of a suspicious male. Arriving officers spoke with a mother who was on the playground with her children, who stated she saw a male — later identified as 26-year-old Kyle Jordan — stop along the trail and repeatedly exposed his buttocks, according to charging documents.
The woman stated she observed Jordan pulling down his sweatpants with his back turned towards her, then looked back towards her direction, police said. She also reported seeing Jordan placing his left arm down his pants, with his “forearm seeming to be moving forward and back,” according to the complaint.
Jorden allegedly pulled his pants up when he saw the woman on her phone, however as she collected her children to leave, he again pulled down his pants and got on his knees, police said.
Investigators located Jordan at the park, at which time he said he was taking pictures of himself to send to a friend, the report states. When asked to see the photos, Jordan allegedly pulled out his phone and deleted the images, then stated he was wearing women’s underwear and again asserted he took sexual images of himself to send to a friend.
Jordan was interviewed two days later at the Lower Gwynedd Police Station, at which point he allegedly acknowledged observing seeing two men playing basketball and a mother with her two children at the time he was taking the photos. A review of Jordan’s email account on his phone showed that he sent three images to a friend in California — one standing, one seated on a bench and one on his knees — all with the park’s baseball diamond in clear view, police said.
On Sept. 20, Jordan was charged with misdemeanor counts of open lewdness and tampering with physical evidence, along with a summary count of disorderly conduct. Those charges were filed via summons, court records show, meaning he has not been arraigned yet and bail has not been set.
Jordan’s first court appearance will be a preliminary hearing on Oct. 27 at 9 a.m. in front of District Judge Suzan Leonard.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause. This story was updated to reflect the child's current custody status.
