Father and Three Sons Displaced Following Fire on West Main Street in Lansdale

A father and three sons have been displaced from their twin home following a Sunday afternoon kitchen fire along the 800 block of West Main Street in Lansdale Borough.

In under two minutes, Fairmount Fire Company had arrived on scene to the fire, which was called in shortly after 1:30 p.m., according to Fairmount Fire Co. Chief Gavin Butler.

There were no injuries, and everyone left the scene safely, Butler said.

Butler said the fire appears to be accidental and an investigation to determine the cause has been turned over to the borough Fire Marshal.

“The fire was contained to the kitchen. However, there is smoke and water damage to other parts of the residence,” Butler said. “The home is determined to be uninhabitable for the time being.”

American Red Cross responded to the scene and is assisting the family, Butler said.

Fairmount Fire Co. was assisted at the scene by Towamencin Vol. Fire Co., Hatfield Vol. Fire Co., Worcester Vol. Fire Dept., Lansdale Police, and Volunteer Medical Services Corps (VMSC) of Lansdale.

Deborah Wolfle, who lives in the neighboring twin at 808 W. Main St., praised the fast response of Fairmount Fire Co. and Lansdale Police. She said her home has minimal smoke damage.

“Everyone got out safely. And a huge thank you to the fire departments from Lansdale, Towamencin, Hatfield, and Worcester. They were here in record time and prevented a lot of possible damage,” Wolfle wrote on a post on the Citizens for the Revitalization of Lansdale Facebook group.

Butler said first fire units arrived in less than two minutes after dispatch, and the fire was under control in less than 20 minutes.
