A $5,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of a teen female wanted on murder charges in connection with the shooting death of 17-year-old Dakari Rome in Pottstown late last month.
Jahme Barnes, 17, is wanted on charges of third-degree murder and attempted murder stemming from the Aug. 28 shooting near Grant Street and Union Alley. She is described as standing 4-foot 7-inches tall weighing 115 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
Police were dispatched to the area at 10 p.m. for a report of shots fired, finding blood stains and fire shell casings at the scene on arrival. Moments later, two male gunshot victims arrived at Pottstown Hospital via private vehicles, with Rome being pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the chest a short time later, and a second 17-year-old male being treated and released for a gunshot wound to his hand.
Investigators said the two victims were “hanging out” in Rome’s Audi SUV with Barnes, another unidentified woman, and a male identified as Kahseem Williams. Barnes, who was driving the vehicle, allegedly pointed a gun owned by Williams at the unidentified male victim, shot him in the hand, and the bullet traveled through his hand and struck Rome in the chest.
The unidentified male victim then fled the vehicle and ran down Union Alley, as Williams fired additional shots at him, police said.
Williams was taken into custody on Sept. 1 on charges of third-degree murder and related offenses.
Anyone with information regarding Barnes’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Pottstown Police Department at 610-970-6570 or the Montgomery County Detectives at 610-226-5553. Anonymous tips can also be submitted using MontcoCrimeTips on the STOPit! app.
