Mayoral Musings: Lansdale Ballot Drop Box Opens This Weekend

This weekend, on Oct. 29 at 8 a.m., the Lansdale ballot drop off box will officially be open and available for voters to use to submit their ballots in advance of Election Day. The box is located at 430 Pennbrook Parkway.  From Oct. 29 through Nov. 8, voters will be able to submit their ballots via the drop box from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

As a reminder, there is a process you must follow for submitting your mail-in ballot to ensure it is counted. Please follow these steps exactly:

  • Complete your entire ballot in black or blue ink.
  • Seal the ballot in the smaller secrecy envelope, then place that in the larger return envelope. If you do not place the ballot in the secrecy envelope first, your vote won’t count.
  • Be sure to sign, date, and complete the entire voter’s declaration on the outside of the larger return envelope.
  • Mail your ballot or return it in person to an official drop-off location.

Additionally, and as a reminder for those voting in person, Election Day is Nov. 8. Polls will be open across the community beginning at 7 a.m. and will close at 8 p.m. If you are unsure of where you are supposed to vote, please click here.

Voting is a critical component to our democracy and, obviously, I encourage everyone who is eligible to vote to take the time to ensure they cast their ballot. This year is a mid-term election and will decide who is elected to the following positions:

·         US Senator

·         US Representative

·         Governor/Lt. Governor of PA

·         State Senator

·         State Representative

As you can imagine, these are all extremely important roles in our government and each position is worth seriously considering whom you would like to lead our state and our country into the future. I encourage everyone to make a plan to vote as soon as you can, and then hold yourselves to that plan.

Some helpful information that might make voting easier/faster for you:

  • Polls tend to be a little slower during the day. If you have the chance to vote mid-day, you might be able to get in and out faster.
  • The sample ballots being handed out at the polls are there to help you and so are the people who are holding them. Not everyone is paying attention to every race. If you are unsure about a race or a candidate, ask someone holding a sample ballot. They will be able to provide some information on the race for you.
  • If you are unsure of your registration status, please click here

Please make sure you take the time to vote this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to myself at [email protected] or another local elected official. We will be happy to provide you with whatever voting information you might need to ensure you are prepared to cast you ballot this fall.

Your voice matters and your vote is important. This yearly ritual keeps our community moving forward together and helps Lansdale become a better place to live, work, and play every single time you cast a ballot.
