A memorial service for retired Montgomery Township Police Lt. Gordon “Don” Simes has been scheduled for Nov. 1.
According to Simes’ daughter, Joanna Hassinger, the memorial will begin at 9 a.m. at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, located at 1169 Limekiln Pike in Ambler. The service will include a receiving line at Wayside Chapel from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed directly by a walking funeral procession to Simes’ burial site.
Attendees are asked to enter the cemetery at the main entrance off of Limekiln Pike, which will be adorned by an American flag, fire company ladder trucks and displays from police and other first responders.
Simes, who served nearly 40 years with the Montgomery Township Police Department following an honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps in 1971, died on Oct. 1, 2022, at the age of 73.
Simes retired from the Montgomery Township Police Department on Sept. 21, 2010.
