Home Health Aide Charged with Identity Theft, Financial Exploitation of Care Dependent Person

A home health aide with Visiting Angels Living Assistance has been arrested after she allegedly stole cash and a credit card while working in the home of an elderly Lower Gwynedd woman.

Jordan Branch, 19, of Philadelphia, has been charged with one felony count of identity theft along with misdemeanor counts of access device fraud, theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and financial exploitation of an older adult or care-dependent person.

Branch is currently free on $50,000 unsecured bail.

While working in the 86-year-old victim’s home on July 29, police allege Branch stole upwards of $1,450 in cash from envelopes stored in the victim’s kitchen and later made multiple purchases using the victim’s credit card. The purchases included items bought in person from Whole Foods, where Branch was captured on surveillance footage, along with multiple food delivery orders that were placed using Branch’s phone, according to charging documents.

Total value of items purchased with the credit card was $403.19, police said.

Charges were filed against Branch on Oct. 4, and she was subsequently taken into custody on Oct. 5. She is currently awaiting her preliminary hearing.
