Original story follows...

Two people were injured Monday evening following a crash near the intersection of Fourth and Ridge streets in Lansdale Borough.

The crash occurred at 6:29 p.m. and involved a civilian sedan and an SUV belonging to the chief of the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale. Both vehicles sustained front-end damage, and the drivers of both vehicles were transported from the scene via ambulance to area hospitals with unknown injuries.

It’s unclear if anyone else was injured or transported from the scene.

While no official details have been released, sources have confirmed that EMS and fire units were initially dispatched to a home near the same intersection at 6:22 p.m. for a report of an infant in cardiac distress. Those sources told North Penn Now they believed the VMSC Chief was enroute to the cardiac call at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time. Rumors of a police vehicle being involved are incorrect.

North Penn Now has reached out to the Lansdale Borough Police Department for additional information. We will update this story when we receive a response.
