Worcester Man Pleads Guilty to Repeatedly Sexually Abusing Juvenile Female in Lansdale, Souderton

A Worcester Township man faces 13 ½ to 27 years in prison and a lifetime registration as a sex offender on felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and corruption of a minor after he admitted last month to sexually assaulting a girl less than 13 years old over a four-year period in Lansdale and Souderton between 2016 and 2020, according to The Main Line Times & Suburban Newspaper.

Daniel James Connolly, 34, of the 2200 block of Warner Road, pleaded guilty Sept. 7 in Montgomery County court, per court records, and sentencing is deferred following a psychosexual evaluation. The case began in September 2020, per court records. Nine other counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child will be dismissed at sentencing, per court records.

Connolly was a friend of the girl’s family, per the report. Five charges of felony rape of a child will be dismissed at sentencing, per the report, as will five felony charges each of indecent assault of a child under 13 and statutory rape of a child 11 years or older, and felony charges of unlawful contact with a minor and endangering the welfare of children.

Connolly is free on $50,000 bail and must not have contact with the victim and cannot be left unsupervised with all other minors, per court orders. He is represented by Norristown attorney Michael Anthony John, of Gazan & John, P.C.

Souderton detectives received a referral from ChildLine in August 2020 regarding reports of Connolly sexually abusing a child, per the criminal complaint. The victim was interviewed by police and told authorities Connolly had sex with her while alone with him on multiple occasions in Lansdale and Souderton, per the report.

Medical personnel at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia found evidence of sexual abuse, police said.

Connolly has no prior criminal history in Pennsylvania, according to the state’s Unified Judicial System database.
