Police Identify Victim of Fatal Crash in Lansdale, Renew Calls for Assistance with Investigation

Lansdale Borough Police have released the identity of the victim of a fatal crash that occurred in the area of Chestnut and East Seventh streets early Tuesday morning.

First responders were dispatched to the area of East Seventh and Chestnut streets at approximately 1:07 a.m. for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries. Sources tell North Penn Now arriving personnel encountered a heavily damaged car that appeared to have struck a pair of parked cars.

The vehicle had been traveling northbound on Chestnut Street towards East Seventh Street prior to the crash.

The driver of the striking vehicle, identified as 47-year-old Stephan Miller, of Lansdale, was found at the scene unrestrained and unresponsive, police said. First responders provided medical aid to Miller, including CPR, however he was later pronounced dead after being transported from the scene via ambulance.

Both of the parked vehicles that were struck suffered heavy damage, police said. Leaking fluids from the vehicles into the storm drain necessitated the assistance from the Fairmount Fire Company and Lansdale Borough Fire Marshal Rick Lesniak.

On Tuesday morning, Lansdale Borough Police Chief Michael Trail told this news organization that initial findings of the investigation into the crash led police to believe speeding may have played a role in the crash. When asked if alcohol may have played a role in the crash, Trail declined to comment, citing the preliminary nature of the police investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who may have surveillance footage of the crash or the moments prior is asked to contact Lansdale Borough Police at 215-368-1801. Tips can also be sent electronically here.

Police were assisted at the scene by units from the Montgomery Township Police Department, North Penn Crash Team, Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale and the Fairmount Fire Company.
