Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash Early Tuesday Morning in Lansdale

A man was killed early Tuesday morning following a single-vehicle crash in Lansdale Borough.

First responders were dispatched to the area of East Seventh and Chestnut streets around 1:30 a.m. for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries. Sources tell North Penn Now arriving personnel encountered a heavily damaged car that appeared to have struck a parked car.

The vehicle had been traveling northbound on Chestnut Street towards East Seventh Street prior to the crash. The driver of the vehicle — an unidentified male — was transported from the scene via ambulance and later pronounced dead.

When reached for comment, Lansdale Police Chief Michael Trail confirmed that a male victim had been killed in the crash but withheld their identity pending notification of next of kin. Trail added the investigation into the crash is in its preliminary stages, however initial findings have led investigators to believe speeding may have played a role in the crash.

Police were assisted at the scene by units from the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale and the Fairmount Fire Company. Additional information is expected to be released by investigators on Tuesday afternoon.
