A Dickens Of An Open House Planned By Lansdale Historical Society

LHS Christmas Tree

The Lansdale Historical Society will host its annual Holidays at the Homestead Open House on Saturday, December 3, at the Jenkins Homestead, 137 Jenkins Avenue, Lansdale, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

This year’s theme is based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

The Homestead will feature Victorian era decorations and furnishings. You may catch a glimpse of Ebenezer Scrooge, members of the Cratchit family, Jacob Marley and another ghost or two, as you tour the Homestead and see what life might have been like during the mid-19th century in Lansdale’s oldest house.

This will be an opportunity to see the recently acquired desk built by Charles Foulke Jenkins and handed down through generations of the Jenkins family.

Selected attic treasures and holiday gift items will be for sale including the Lansdale 150th anniversary ornament, and commemorative book Lansdale 150: The Visionaries Who Built A Borough. Light refreshments will be available.
