Police Investigating Bomb Threat Against SEPTA Regional Rail Line in Lansdale

Lansdale Borough Police are investigating a bomb threat on the Septa Regional Rail Line at the West Main Street Transportation Center in Lansdale.

Police said Montgomery County Dispatch received a call at 3:04 p.m. from an unknown male claiming he was on a northbound train to Lansdale with a bomb and he intended to blow the train up. Lansdale Police responded to the area and evacuated the train, and members of the Montgomery County Bomb Squad are currently assisting with the investigation, according to a press release.

Investigators did not indicate if an explosive device has been located.

“The incident is of particular concern given the history of incidents occurring on mass transit systems all over this nation,” said Lansdale Borough Police Chief Michael Trail. “Threats such as these will be fully investigated, and anyone involved in this incident will be prosecuted.”

As of the time of publication, it appears the scene at the Lansdale Train Station has been cleared. Police units have been observed near the Pennbrook Train Station on Church Road, and sources have stated the SEPTA traffic arms remain down on Hancock Street.
