Hatfield Man Hospitalized Following Armed Robbery at North Line Street Home, Suspects Arrested After Vehicle Pursuit, Police Say

Three adults and one juvenile are facing a variety of felony and misdemeanor charges after they allegedly conspired to rob a Hatfield Township man at gunpoint in his North Line Street home late Thursday night.

Police said the man had been communicating with a woman that he had met on a prostitution website for approximately one month, and during the evening of May 12, he had arranged for the woman to come to his home to have sex. The woman — identified as 19-year-old Jacqueline Brown, of Philadelphia — arrived at the home at approximately 11 p.m. with a second female, who police later identified as juvenile female who had been previously listed as a missing person, according to charging documents.

The woman and the teen began to flash their breasts at the victim, then told the victim they wanted to retrieve a sex toy from their vehicle, the report states. The teen allegedly attempted to have the victim follow her to the vehicle, however the victim declined, and she went out on her own. Approximately 20 seconds later, the teen returned, at which point the victim said he heard loud footsteps running towards his home, so he locked the door and dialed 9-1-1, believing he was being set up, police said.

After locking the front door, the victim noticed a red laser beam on his face and observed Brown pointing a handgun at him, the report states. The teen then opened the front door, allowing two males armed with handguns into the home, police said.

County dispatch maintained an open line throughout the incident, according to the criminal complaint.

Brown allegedly held the victim at gunpoint as the two males repeatedly pistol whipped him and asked where his money was. The two males — later identified as 24-year-old Nysier Smith, and 21-year-old Zaheem Bullock-Jiles, both of Philadelphia — then allegedly stole the victim’s iPhone and watch, before all four suspects fled the scene.

As police began tracking the location of the iPhone via “Find My Phone,” county dispatch received a call from an unknown female on the victim’s iPhone, who said she was involved in a domestic incident with her “drunk boyfriend,” who was claiming that he was robbed. Investigators believe the call was made by one of the female suspects in an attempt to cover their escape.

Police tracked the phone to Norristown Borough, at which point a vehicle pursuit began that included units from the Norristown Borough Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, Lower Merion Police Department, Philadelphia Police Department and University of Pennsylvania Police. The vehicle was finally stopped along the 4300 block of Spruce Street in Philadelphia, and all four suspects were taken into custody.

Police recovered two firearms and ammunition from the vehicle, according to the complaint.

As a result of the incident:

  • Brown has been charged with felony counts of robbery, aggravated assault, and firearms not to be carried without a license, along with misdemeanor counts of simple assault, reckless endangerment, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, fleeing to elude an officer and related conspiracy offenses.
  • Smith has been charged with felony counts of robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license, and possession of a firearm prohibited, along with misdemeanor counts of simple assault, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and related conspiracy offenses.
  • Bullock-Jiles has been charged with felony counts of robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license, and possession of a firearm prohibited, along with misdemeanor counts of simple assault, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and related conspiracy offenses.
  • The unnamed juvenile female was also charged and taken into custody however those records are not available.

Brown, Smith and Bullock-Jiles are currently being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 cash bail. Their joint preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 31 at 1:15 p.m. in front of District Judge Andrea Duffy.

Police said the victim was hospitalized for injuries sustained during the robbery, and he was later released.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
