A local mother is seeking donations that will go toward the Eagles Autism Challenge.
Annette Schuster’s son, Jeffrey Schuster, was diagnosed as nonverbal autistic at 2½ years old. Now 6, Jeffrey attends Galena Austism and Behavioral Services in Doylestown, which “provid[es] Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA Therapy) services to enrich the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental needs towards a future full of hope,” according to their website.
Annette met someone through his school who introduced her to a Facebook page called Mothers Solving Puzzles. From there, she learned about the Eagles Autism Challenge, which raises money annually for research and care programs.
“I became a member of this group and her and I also became very close friends, and she does [the Eagles Autism Challenge]. This is actually her fifth year doing it,” Annette said. “I saw it through there and I had told her, this year, how awesome I thought it was and I had never heard of it before and that I would like to do the event with her.”
They then created a team together, which they called Mother Solving Puzzles.
“It's really just us working together trying to raise as much money as we can for this cause,” Annette said. “We all have our own fundraising page, but then as a team, we do events together.”
The Eagles Autism Challenge Weekend is May 20 through May 21, which includes various activities like the Sensory Walk, Bike Ride, and 5K Run/Walk. The fundraising deadline is May 31. Click here to donate.
