Intoxicated Man Arrested After Running Around Montgomery Township Cul-De-Sac Naked, Police Say

A man from Georgetown, DE was arrested in Montgomery Township over the weekend after he allegedly took off his clothes and ran around a cul-de-sac on Guinness Lane.

Police were dispatched to the scene at 6:32 p.m. on May 15 for a report of a nude male running in and out of his truck in the cul-de-sac. Upon arrival, police made contact with the suspect — identified as 42-year-old Kirtis Graves — who was seated inside of his truck wearing nothing but sunglasses, according to charging documents.

Police said they could smell a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle, and when they asked Graves if he had been drinking, he allegedly responded “Yeah. Of Course. Quite a bit.” Graves then got dressed and performed a series of field sobriety tests, all of which showed heavy signs of intoxication, police said.

Graves was taken into custody at 7:01 p.m.

Police spoke to witnesses at the scene, who said they noticed the vehicle in the cul-de-sac at 6 p.m. and began to monitor it. One witness told police that Graves would exit his vehicle, run completely nude to the center of the cul-de-sac, grab his genitals, and then run back to his truck, according to the complaint.

As a result of the incident, Graves has been charged with indecent exposure, open lewdness, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. He’s currently free on $5,000 unsecured bail, and his next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on May 24 at 11 a.m. in front of District Judge Andrea Duffy.
